Winnie”, the famous Canadian Black Bear rescued by British veterinarian Lieutenant Harry Colebourn, became a much-loved resident of London Zoo. There, she won the heart of a young Christopher Robin (as pictured below) who visited her regularly, and went on to inspire the name given to the lead character in AA Milne’s renowned stories, Winnie The Pooh.
