Product Description
Steiff's "Dolly" Teddy bear pattern was first introduced in 1913 in honour of the inauguration of Thomas Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President of the USA. Unlike Roosevelt and Taft, Wilson did not have an animal mascot associated with him. Roosevelt of course had the Teddy bear, and Taft had an opossum. To welcome the new President into office, Steiff designed its Dolly bear, and launched her at the 1913 Leipzig Spring Trade Fair. Dolly bears were known for their distinctive colouration and novel ruff neckwear.
This exquisite replica of the green, white and coral colourway brings some festive cheer to this iconic design. Made from the finest mohair and featuring the characteristic ruff and squeaker, this charming bear is a beautiful example of a design that has transcended time to very firmly place herself as one of Steiff's most loved creations. Her 'Button in Ear' is made from patented steel to further replicate the look of the original bear.
Dolly Bear 1913 Replica is limited to 913 pieces worldwide. She comes with her numbered certificate in a Steiff gift box with its original protective cardboard outer sleeve.
